How do we make algae-based wood?


Wood-plastic composites are a common type of artificial timber made from a thermoset plastic and cellulose from wood pulp.

Steps of Production

Cellulose

Extract the cellulose from the algae

Thermoplastic

Use a recycled thermoplastic binder

Extrusion

Extrude the melted resin-cellulose combination with any colorants

Finishing

Paint or treat the plastic, and cut to size for shipping
